52 on Friday (Week 13): Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

This week’s 52 Project theme is “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” We had to choose a favorite artist and imitate his or her work while still making it our own.

For many years, I have been a huge fan of Amanda Jones. She shoots mainly in the studio and has a brilliant way of capturing the personality of every animal she photographs. Now that I am finally getting my own studio set up, I decided to try my hand at some “personality” shots. Enter Toby, the Smooth Hair Fox Terrier.

To say Toby has a lot of energy is an understatement. Being a terrier, he loves to chase and attack. I really wanted to capture that energy in his photos so we went full-out. We found a duster that he absolutely loved and we let him go after it. I think he had a lot of fun getting his photo taken… I know I had a lot of fun taking it! (Click the photo to make it bigger!)
