You guys all know I have a soft spot for the senior pups, so you can imagine how excited I was when 13-year-old Jerome & 11-year-old Lucille’s mom booked a session for them with me! Jerome is a Rottweiler who was adopted from the Humane Society. Lucille is a Chocolate Labrador who was adopted from a family whose litter needed good homes. Well, let me tell you… these dogs could not have gotten any luckier. Their lives have been FILLED with love. I could tell the moment I walked into their home how happy and content they both are.
I have to get off track for a minute and tell you about Jerome & Lucille’s two human siblings. The youngest is a little boy who — ten seconds after meeting me — wanted to come hang out in my arms… and I was happy to oblige! He is such an easy-going kid, I couldn’t get over it! The oldest is a little girl who is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She came right over to me and said, “I have hairspray just like yours! You know how I know?” “How?,” I asked curiously (since I wasn’t wearing any hairspray). “Because mine turns my hair PINK and your hair is RED!,” she replied in such a matter-of-fact manner, I simply couldn’t argue. So, we bonded instantly over our love of unusual hair colors. I didn’t tell her mine was dyed… I didn’t want to give her any big ideas. You’re welcome, parents. :)
In all the work I do with rescues, I often hear stories of when parents have “real” kids, the dogs just get pushed aside. It was so clear that this was NOT the case in this household. When mom asked for a special photo of “all the kids,” it just made my heart smile (you’ll see that photo a little later on). I love working with people who see their dogs as their furry kids and group them in with the human ones. I just had such a great time working with this family and capturing memories for them to treasure for many years to come!
And now on to the photos…
