Gracie the Beagle // Pet Portrait Session at Balboa Park

My heart absolutely melted the first time I laid eyes on Gracie, the little blue Beagle. Her soft coloring, floppy ears, and soulful golden eyes were just too much to handle! We had our session at Balboa Park, which is one of my very favorite places.

Here’s a fun fact: you might not believe it but Gracie was on a leash this entire session!

She’s a serious little one… about treats, that is! I got yelled at when I wasn’t shelling them out quickly enough!

There are so many beautiful spots all around Balboa Park. Everywhere we turned, I just had to ask Gracie model!

The sunlight on the day of our session was just to die for. It was incredible and just sparkled through the trees!

Here’s a little from Gracie’s mom:

Gracie is a Virginia native. Her dad spotted her one day and instantly fell in love. He couldn’t take her home right away because he wanted to make sure we were all a good fit but I fell in love with her instantly, too!

I grew up with hound dogs and when my husband and I got married, I always wanted another one. When I laid eyes on Gracie, I knew that she was ours!

When I picked Gracie up, I wrapped her in a blanket and immediately knew we were going to be best friends. She was 9 weeks old and 4 pounds. She was quite the trouble maker for the first year we had her. She had lots of endless energy and destroyed just about every pair of shoes she could get her teeth on. Gracie loved going to the dog park and rough housing with other dogs. She was a lot of work, but we definitely love her more and more each day.

She still has a lot of energy and likes to play, but she has mellowed out for sure!

Gracie is my best bud and keeps me company when my husband is out of town, at times for weeks! She keeps my husband on his toes when I’m working weekends and late at night.

She’s a cuddle bug with me and loves to rough house with my husband. Gracie has quite a personality! She has brought so much love and joy for us and will be forever part of our family.

Wyoming better move on over and make some room bec Wyoming better move on over and make some room because Montana now shares my heart. We spent 45 days in the western half of the state this year and I did NOT want to leave. On our last day, Roxy and I sat out by the Gallatin River together. I sipped my morning tea, we listened to the birds, and watched a little squirrel eat a nut in the tree next to us. It was pure perfection.⁣

Photographing Rey and her mom among the red rocks was one of the highlights of our trip. Rey's beautiful brindle tones worked so perfectly with the red rocks and I just loved the happy, natural smiles both mom & pup had when they were together!

Down a gravel road, away from the tourist crowds, the Teton range stood nobly in the distance while tall trees, yellow wildflowers, and a friendly little chipmunk called this hilltop home. This was such a special evening and Mother Nature's dramatic sunset is not one I'll soon forget.
