Top 4 Reasons You Want to Hire a Traveling Dog Photographer

Traveling photography is the epitome of Westway’s ever-enduring pioneering spirit. If you’ve been following us for long enough, you know we have a L-O-V-E for exploration! Surely you’ve heard by now, but in case you’ve missed it: we’ve taken the show on the road!

We’re traveling across the U.S. in Sibbie, our covered wagon — I mean Airstream! — while capturing all the beauty this country has to offer for people, pets, and businesses just like yours. It’s been a heck of an adventure so far and we still have FOUR MONTHS to go! *pinches self back to reality*

Follow along with our trip through our Instagram or Facebook pages so you can see all the incredible imagery brands are getting from unique and beautiful destinations, but for now… here are the top 4 reasons you want to hire a traveling pet photographer (AKA Westway’s Trail-Blazing Traveler with a Camera).

1. It’s a chance to put your brand everywhere!

While my travel sponsors who jumped in early (Wellness Pet Company, P.L.A.Y., and dooloop) are getting fresh monthly content in a variety of locations, brands still have the opportunity to choose a location on my route for a full-service photo project.

Hiring a traveling commercial photographer is opening the door to a variety of looks in scenery and dog models — just ask my client who needed a northern-looking water location we never could have created in San Diego. BOOM! Done!

If travel isn’t your thing, let me tell you: different places around the country have vastly different looks to outdoor scenery, homes, and even popular pet breeds and types. Brands that get to capture ALL these different looks in their imagery increase their relatability to their target audience.

Not sure where your brand’s ideal spot would be? Read what your photo shoot location says about your pet brand here.

2. It can save you some cash

We are on the road already so you’re going to SAVE LOTS on extra travel fees if you choose someplace local on our route.

Stay in the know with where we’re headed, pinpoint your desired location, and then sip your iced tea knowing you don’t have to pay exorbitant airline fees to fly a professional commercial photographer to your destination shoot, nor do you have to incur those ratchet hotel fees.

It’s just a business-savvy thing to do, ya know? It’s a smart move. ;)

3. It unleashes your photographer’s creative genius

There’s nothing like shooting in new locations to spark creativity (with proper scouting time, of course!). Fresh locations with fresh eyes is a professional photographer’s happy place.

Shooting in new locations means we don’t have “go-to shots” yet so we get to create with what nature is giving us. It’s exciting and wonderful because everything is in full creative mode with your brand at the center.

4. It keeps your imagery consistent

Working with the same commercial dog photographer while shooting different times of year in different locations gives your brand a consistent photographic look and allows your photographer to really dial in the ability to tell your brand story.

Imagine shooting in every season around the country – you would have fresh content to last the entire year! No more posting summer photos in the middle of winter or vice versa!

Both you and your photographer will learn which types of shots give you the biggest marketing impact so you can create more of them more frequently.

Wyoming better move on over and make some room bec Wyoming better move on over and make some room because Montana now shares my heart. We spent 45 days in the western half of the state this year and I did NOT want to leave. On our last day, Roxy and I sat out by the Gallatin River together. I sipped my morning tea, we listened to the birds, and watched a little squirrel eat a nut in the tree next to us. It was pure perfection.⁣

Photographing Rey and her mom among the red rocks was one of the highlights of our trip. Rey's beautiful brindle tones worked so perfectly with the red rocks and I just loved the happy, natural smiles both mom & pup had when they were together!

Down a gravel road, away from the tourist crowds, the Teton range stood nobly in the distance while tall trees, yellow wildflowers, and a friendly little chipmunk called this hilltop home. This was such a special evening and Mother Nature's dramatic sunset is not one I'll soon forget.

Hello, Las Vegas! Shutterhound starts TOMORROW!!!! Hello, Las Vegas! Shutterhound starts TOMORROW!!!! I know how hard the conference founders, Kaylee & Sam, have been working to pull this all together and I am 1,000,000% confident this will be an event to remember! I am honored to have been asked to teach two separate classes at the event and am so excited to get up there on stage and share what I've learned over the past 13 years as a pet photographer! Are any of my social followers here at the conference, too? Are you ready to have your socks knocked off????? I am!!!

Roxy rode in her carriage and was as happy as a little clam the whole time. She loves being out in nature and I'm just so glad we can still provide her with special outings like this one.

I'm flying out to Las Vegas next week to teach at Shutterhound, *the* conference for pet photographers. I'm excited to see old friends, meet new ones, and teach two classes! I am so honored to be part of the "rockstar speaker" lineup, which includes some of the very best, most iconic, and talented pet photographers from across the globe!
