Family Dog Portraits: Australian Shepherd, Nalu

There’s a really special place in my heart for ranch dog breeds… Australian Shepherds, Blue Heelers, Border Collies… I fall in love with them very, very quickly. Nalu won my heart the moment I saw him. He is such an incredibly loving dog with the best personality. He and his mom share such a special bond! 

Nalu’s mom told me she wasn’t planning on adopting him but when she met him and he looked her in the eyes, she instantly felt a connection and knew they were meant to be family.

Usually dogs will have trigger words that quickly get their interest — like treat, wanna go, or dinner. Nalu’s favorite thing? The sound of a Babybel cheese wrapper! Hahaha!!! He’s a dog after my own heart.

Nalu loves the outdoors, creeks, mountains, and anywhere he can run and play so we decided to have our shoot at my favorite rustic San Diego location in Rancho Penasquitos. Nalu’s session took place in February so we had lots of green grass!

The sun is absolutely magical here and I can never get enough of it! 

Even when the sun goes down, it’s still amazing. 

So, who else is totally in love with Nalu now??? Isn’t he the handsomest?
