Commercial Pet Brand Photography Portfolio: Emmert’s Lifestyle Brand Photography
Project “Visual Re-Brand” with Emmert Products
Emmert was nearing completion on their re-branding journey. They wanted to take their business from industry-average to eye-catching extraordinary. In thinking about the marketing, they wanted to break the mold and do something that would set them apart from their competitors. Enter beautiful, dreamy, lifestyle photography. Emmert’s new tagline is “Performance that Shines” so the images needed to feel warm, inviting, and show off healthy animals with shiny coats.
As manufacturers of brewer’s yeast products for pets and livestock, Emmert’s products span a wide range of markets, all of which would need custom imagery. It was also important to Emmert to have the utmost authenticity with the new brand images; every animal we photographed needed to have a history with Emmert products. They reached out to some of their California-based clients and I reached out to some of mine. With that, we were able to secure all the models we needed.
HOW WESTWAY WENT WILD FOR EMMERT
> Warm, bright, and emotional photography of cows, pigs, horses, goats, sheep, cats, and dogs throughout the state of California
> Location scouting including an in-person scouting day before the shoot
> Photography at five locations over four days
> Partnered with a filmmaker who created video content to work seamlessly with the still photography
For this shoot, we wanted sunny, gleaming light, but we had cloudy, rainy days instead. By some miracle, there was a small break in the clouds and the farm was bathed in a split second of sunshine — just enough for me to capture exactly what we needed!
From photographing cows calmly eating their breakfast to joining incredibly adorable baby pigs in their stalls, it was cuteness and mud overload, and I loved every moment! This was one of the most memorable commercial photo shoots of my career. I still smile every time I come across Emmert’s imagery from this shoot.
“Terran is an outstanding photographer, a true professional, and a delight to work with. I had the great pleasure of working with her on a 4-day photoshoot that required extensive travel and multiple shoots each day – and she rocked it. Terran went above and beyond to help coordinate locations, models, and even great places to grab a bite. She knew how to capture just the right look and feel for our brand and met no challenge too great to get THE shot. Terran’s genuine connection with animals undoubtedly shines through in her captivating work.”
