Project “New Hampshire” for Gold Paw Series

This shoot was definitely not the norm for commercial shoots, but boy was it FUN! GoldPaw and I were chatting about this project in early 2020, juuuust as the news of the coronavirus began to bubble up in the media.

GoldPaw has been a very go-with-the-flow brand that gives me full creative freedom with locations, shot angles, and models, but there were a few specifics we needed to hone in on. We needed happy dogs and people, sparkly sunshine to show off their sun shield tees, cozy at-home moments, and leisurely outdoor walks that spoke to both adventurous and everyday-dog-walking parents. The owner of GoldPaw also really wanted a three-legged doggie model for this shoot. I knew *just* the one — but she lived in New Hampshire. We agreed to do the shoot while I was on the east coast over the summer, but then COVID quickly shut that down.

We waited an entire year to make this shoot happen and in the end it was totally worth it.

FINAL RESULTS

This photo shoot happened when I was on my normally-annual trip back east — a great example of not leaving work at home while you’re on vacation. Luckily, I live out my dream job and didn’t mind one bit.

The dog models happened to be the friends we were staying with so we were able to shoot any time the light was good. Junie the tripod and her baked-potato-brother, Joshie — two rescued pitties — were fitted in the finest GoldPaw stretch fleece and sunshield tees. Joshie even got to model the brand new GoldPaw harness that would be launching at SuperZoo.

One of the mornings when we woke up, the light was perfect so we all ran outside in our pajamas to snap a few winning shots — one of which actually ended up on the cover of their catalog. (Flexibility and pivoting are one of the big pros of pet photographers versus people photographers!)

Getting to photograph Joshie and Junie for one of my favorite brands was a dream-come-true. I adore these dogs and GoldPaw was the perfect project for them!

The weather in Bozeman sure kept us on our toes! A The weather in Bozeman sure kept us on our toes! As much as I love dramatic skies, my internal monologue goes something like this: please no big hail, please no big hail, please no big hail...⁣
The rain sounds so amazing inside the Airstream, though, so I really do love stormy weather when we're camping. It taps on the aluminum roof and skylights in the most soothing way. At night, it puts me right to sleep!

Wyoming better move on over and make some room bec Wyoming better move on over and make some room because Montana now shares my heart. We spent 45 days in the western half of the state this year and I did NOT want to leave. On our last day, Roxy and I sat out by the Gallatin River together. I sipped my morning tea, we listened to the birds, and watched a little squirrel eat a nut in the tree next to us. It was pure perfection.⁣

Photographing Rey and her mom among the red rocks was one of the highlights of our trip. Rey's beautiful brindle tones worked so perfectly with the red rocks and I just loved the happy, natural smiles both mom & pup had when they were together!
I absolutely loved this peaceful spot in Jackson H I absolutely loved this peaceful spot in Jackson Hole. Down a gravel road, away from the tourist crowds, the Teton range stood nobly in the distance while tall trees, yellow wildflowers, and a friendly little chipmunk called this hilltop home. This was such a special evening and Mother Nature's dramatic sunset is not one I'll soon forget.

I know how hard the conference founders, Kaylee & Sam, have been working to pull this all together and I am 1,000,000% confident this will be an event to remember! Are any of my social followers here at the conference, too? Are you ready to have your socks knocked off????? I am!!!
